Warm up activity:

Please practice your times tables on the daily 10 activity

Try these problems of the day.

 

 

 

WALT:  add and subtract fractions with the same denominator

 

1 3/4  - a mixed number (When it contains a WHOLE number AND a fraction)

7/4 - an improper fraction (when the numerator is bigger than the denominator)

 

Remember: when the numerator is the same as the denominator is the same as a whole one 

4/4 = 1

5/5 = 1

10 / 10 = 1

12/12 = 1

Can you think of any other examples?

 

1  1/4 +    2 1/4    = 

 

Add the whole numbers first  ->   1 + 2 = 3

 

Add the fractions =         ->       1/4 + 1/4 = 2/4

 

3 + 2/4 = 3 2/4

Can you write 5 statements, 5 exclamatory sentences and 5 questions for the pictures above.

Below are some examples to help you.

 

Statements

The house is covered in thick, white snow.

Perched gently on the branch, there are two robins with soft, brown feathers searching for berries to eat.

Blowing gently, the palm tree leaves move in the gentle breeze.

 

Exclamatory sentences

What a cold place!

How peaceful the water looks!

 

Questions:

Who lives inside the house?

Who does the boat at the end of the jetty belong to?

 

 

 

 

 

READING

Whilst school is closed, it is extremely important that your child continues to read every day for 20 minutes. We would like your child to continue completing their reading record as usual - one page per week as follows:

 

5 entries of Fiction and/or non-fiction reading events.

Comments -

This week, please complete the comprehension activity based on King Arthur from your packs. 

 

 

Spelling Practice: Monday 23rd March - Friday 27th March

 

Please complete the first week of spelling homework in your packs - Apostrophes for possessive pronouns. 

 

To help with this, on Spelling Shed you will have a new assignment named 'Plural Possessive Apostrophe'.

Aim to have a go at these spellings for at least 20 minutes once a week.

Teachers are able to see how well you are doing.
