It's been another jam-packed week in Year 4 this week. In History, we learned about the Viking raid at the monastery at Lindisfarne and wrote a letter as one of the monks asking the King of Northumbria for help. In English, we have completed out poetry work and began looking at writing for newspapers. At swimming, the children had a very important lesson around water safety and what to do if they see someone in trouble in the water. Why not ask us what we remember from the lesson? And finally, we completed our Science experiment in observing eggshells (enamel) in different liquids to see what would happen to them. The results were very interesting! Ask us what we discovered and read through Darcy's and Eli's work to learn more:

It's been an exciting week in 4S as we have started our science investigation into how different liquids affect enamel. Using eggs to represent teeth, we are observing what happens to the shell when placed in water, orange juice and energy drink. To further our investigation, we have also put toothpaste on a different set of eggs in the same liquids to see how toothpaste can protect our teeth. Check back next week to find our conclusions!

We've had a great start to the Summer term and we've been very busy getting stuck into our learning. In English, we have started our poetry unit and have begun looking at the different writing features of poems. In Science, we shared our amazing Home Learning Challenges and recapped all our learning about human and other animal teeth. In History, we began our Vikings topic, looking at the key events within the Viking Age of Britain.
