PE

This half-term we have been concentrating on the following activities :

1 - To run using good posture,

2 - To compete in a long jump from a standing position,

3 - To throw an object safely, aiming to get it as far as possible.

Hopefully over the last 2 weeks you have all practiced your running and jumping skills.

By practising a little every day, you'll be great in no time.  laugh

enlightenedBEFORE STARTING ANY OF THE ACTIVITIES BELOW, PLEASE ENSURE YOU DO AN APPROPRIATE WARM UP, WEAR THE CORRECT CLOTHING, NO JEWELLERY TO BE WORN  AND LONG HAIR MUST BE TIED BACKenlightened

This week we'll be looking at:

3 - To throw an object safely, aiming to get it as far as possible.

You will need some objects you can throw like bean bags or balls and a hoop if you have one - if not, can you make a circle on the floor using chalk or maybe even a scarf?

Warm Up : have a go at walking really stiffly, now walk like jelly. Move like a soldier, now

move like a cat! Move like your legs are really heavy or light as a feather.

  • Face a solid wall within a finger tip reach and put your arms straight out in front of you.
  • Next, place your hands flat against the wall. Keeping your body straight, slowly bend your arms until your nose nearly touches the wall and repeat - this will help with your hand to eye coordination and throwing accuracy.

RULES:

Standing behind a throw line, you need to throw your objects aiming for the hoop/circle on the floor. Full points if your object lands directly in the hoop, half points if the object lands short but then goes in the hoop. Retrieve your objects, repeat and practise.

Cool Down : Run around your garden, slowly decreasing speed to a gentle walk.
