In science, we’ve had lots of fun exploring the different properties of materials.

The children have been especially curious about magnetism, transparency, hardness, and solubility.

They’ve tested a variety of objects with magnets to see which ones are magnetic and used torches to investigate whether materials are transparent, translucent, or opaque. They’ve also enjoyed sorting and grouping everyday objects based on what they’re made of and carried out exciting investigations to find out which materials dissolve in water.

We’ve explored different ways to separate mixtures too, including filtering, sieving, and magnetism. 5R have also been investigating reversible and irreversible changes and have loved predicting and observing what happens. It’s been wonderful to see their enthusiasm and scientific thinking grow with each lesson!
