This half term, Year 3 will be reading 'The Tin Forest', a sad but thoughtful story written by Helen Ward and Wayne Anderson.
"There was once a wide, windswept place, near nowhere and close to forgotten that was filled with all the things that no one wanted." So begins Helen Ward's tale of the Tin Forest where an old man lives who tidies the rubbish and dreams of a better place...
Whilst reading the book, the children will :
- share their predictions,
- write setting descriptions using expanded noun phrases and prepositions for detail,,
- use speech between two characters,
- draw pictures of the characters and much, much more!
