What an action packed week in 6B!
We have taken part in the whole school quiz (and came 3rd!), learnt about the Jewish holiday of Hanukah and made a dreidel, played against each other in Christmas Kahoots, watched Cinderella Live and had a christmas party.
And that is without even mentioning the crafts!
We have finished our Tote Bag DT project- we realised that making the finished product was actually quite tricky but gave it our best! We have also designed Andy Warhol inspired 2021 calendars, written our hopes for 2021 in our mini baubles, made book inspired Christmas cards and made some rather cute little woolly hat decorations!
We have certainly earned a lovely Christmas break!

Monday 7th December 2020- Friday 11th December 2020
On Wednesday, we had a morning of times tables! We made interactive times table stories, played TT Rockstars, designed our own plectrums and had times table battles against our classmates. A huge well done to Johnny for being the champion of our battles and Almo as a worthy runner up!

To finish our World War II topic, we debated which key event was the turning point for winning the war. Everyone voted and added their opinion to our class padlet using a QR code and I-Pad.
Monday 20th November 2020 - Friday 4th December 2020
We are really enjoying our WW2 topic and are keeping Mrs. Kaur busy with these fantastic displays.
Every available wall, cupboard and door is being used since we have SO much wonderful work to choose from.
In English this week, we have started reading 'Letters from the Lighthouse'. We have developed our reading skills by using information from the book to answer questions, create a missing person report and write a postcard home in role as the main character.
Have a look below for some excellent examples.

This week we have enjoyed an interactive zoom session with CBBC! We watched part of an episode of 'The Dumping Ground' and thought about how different characters might act in various situations.
We have continued with our World War 2 topic- which is a popular topic in the class. In history we have researched about Manchester during World War 2 and presented our learning in a fact file. I am so impressed with the presentation in our History books- each page looks unique! We have also completed some art work inspired by WW2. Have a look at some fantastic examples below.

This week we have journeyed back to the 1950's. We listened to music from popular artists and debated whether rock n roll or soul music is better. Elvis and 'Blue Suede Shoes' and Ray Charles 'Hit the Road Jack' were the two most popular songs in the class.

In History, we continued learning all about WW2. We thought about the different sacrifices made by people during the war and about rationing. We also learnt all about the Blitz and how people tried to protect themselves with air raid shelters, gas masks and blackouts.

Equalities Week
This week, we have been learning all about Japan and the Japanese culture.
We have learnt fun facts about Japan, tried writing in Japanese, created artwork, written Haiku poems, made and tasted sushi and learnt about Japanese music and instruments- what a busy week!!
We were visited by a story teller, who has inspired us to re-tell our own Japanese story.

Take a look at our Japanese inspired art work. I think you will agree that it looks pretty impressive!

Welcome back 6B!
It is lovely to be back together in the classroom and ready to do some fantastic learning!
This week has certainly been a busy one so a big well done for all of your hard work.
This week we have started our new 'Light' topic in science. Our big question is "Can we believe our eyes?". We thought about key vocabulary, what we already know and what we would like to know. Have a look at these super title pages.

In music this half term, we are journeying back through the decades to look at key genres and influential musicians/songs. This week we explored the 1920's and listened to some big band swing, some jazz and some blues. Big band swing was certainly the favourite!
