What a half term!
I am so impressed with how well 6B have got settled into life in year 6 and how much amazing learning we have managed to squeeze in!
This week we summarised all of our wonderful learning in geography about Southport- take a look below.
We have also finished the book Skellig which we thoroughly enjoyed! We all agree that the author David Almond is very talented!
Monday 10th October - Friday 14th October
Another busy week in year 6!
On Monday, we went on a geography field trip to Southport. We have been looking at human and physical features and used google maps in previous lessons to look at the location. We explored Marine Lake and Southport transition.
We have also been investigating whether yeast is a living thing by completing the balloon experiment.
Monday 4th October - Friday 7th October
We have challenged ourselves in the following activities whilst focusing on our respect and self manager skills.
Monday 26th September - Friday 30th September
One of the best roles in year 6 is having a year 3 buddy. We have all been paired up and this was our second meeting.
Our year 3 buddies brought their reading books and read to year 6. It was lovely to see the pairs talking and sharing questions and stories about VPJS.
Collecting and Classifying Plants in Science
Monday 19th September - Friday 23rd September
This week 6B enjoyed taking part in 'Graffiti maths'. They worked collaboratively on addition and subtractions problems and could present their learning in any way they wanted.
We also had fun classifying Liquorice Allsorts! We had to group the sweets by their characterists and then create classification keys. We then applied the knowledge and skills to classifying animals.
Monday 12th September - Friday 16th September
What a busy week in year 6!
We have started our 'Living Things & Their Habitats' topic in science and started by recapping our learning from all the way back in year 4!
We could remember all about carnivores, herbivores and omnivores and also the difference between vertebrates and invertebrates. We also had an interesting debate about which was the odd one out in the pictures below. What do you think?
In English, we have continued reading 'Skellig'. We have found out lots of information about the man in the garage
but we still have so many questions....
Have a look at our retrieval skills below.
Monday 5th September - Friday 9th September
What a fantastic first week in 6B.
Everyone settled in so well and we jumped straight into some fantastic learning.
In English, we started reading our mysterious book 'Skellig, we started our 'map and fieldwork' topic in geography and have been working on our place value skills in maths.
