Dragons were a big part of Viking design. They would use them as figureheads on their longboats as a way of striking fear into any enemy they approached. The dragon head would be at the bow (front) of the longboat and the tail would be at the stern (back) of the longboat. 

 

The Vikings would also use a dragon eye design in their jewellery. 

 

This week, we are going to start designing our own dragon eyes. Section your paper into quarters so you can complete 4 different designs. Take a look at the images below for inspiration. Around the eye, you could show off the scales and include additional decorations such as feathers, swirls or even horns!
