The Sports Premium funding was first introduced in September 2013. The aim is to increase participation in sport and physical activity, promote healthy lifestyle choices and to help raise academic achievement. This funding has been committed to by the government until 2020. This year the government has increased the funding. Schools with 17 pupils or more will receive £16,000 plus an additional premium of £10 per pupil. For Victoria Park Junior School that means an allocation of £18,400.
The school was awarded the Bronze Schools Games mark in 2012-13 and then Gold in 2013-14. In 2015-16 the school was nominated for 5 awards at the Trafford School's sport awards and were successful to win an award for using competition to drive participation in sports. This shows the continuing commitment and success we have in sport at our school.
