Several local schools were invited to take part and each were given a nation to represent...

Victoria Park Junior School - were New Zealand

St. Hugh's R.C. Primary School - were Ireland

St. Michael's Church of England School - were Scotland

Davyhulme Primary School - were France

All schools were warmly welcomed by us the host nation, in traditional New Zealand Haka style and heartily cheered on by the pupils of Victoria Park.

Rigorous games ensued all day in damp, cold weather - perfect for rugby!

However, after all the mud, sweat and only a few tears, there could be only one winner from each year group...

Year 3 - The winners were St. Hugh of Lincoln

Year 4 - The winners were Victoria Park Juniors

Year 5 - The winners were Davyhulme Primary School

Year 6 - The winners were St. Michael's Primary School

After a presentation ceremony, where the winning teams were presented with medals and trophies by Mrs Alison Ayin from Lostock College, there followed a raucous closing ceremony when all the children performed the Haka again.

A tremendous day was had by all and a massive V.P.J.S. 'thank you' all who took part...
