This half term we are exploring the exciting and wizardly world of Harry Potter. We shall read the first book in the series written by the brilliant J.K. Rowling- Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. We will also enjoy a Harry Potter themed World Book Day on the 7th March.
'Turning the envelope over, his hands trembling, Harry saw a purple wax seal bearing a coat of arms; a lion, an eagle, a badger and a snake surrounding a large letter 'H'.'
Whilst reading this epic adventure children will be learning to:
- Write an advert including hooks and use of persuasive language- whilst using a full range of punctuation and complex, interesting sentences.
- Write a description using a full range of sentence structures; vivid and interesting language; and literary features.
- Design and write about their own wand.
- Write a recount.
Along the way, we will identify: colons, semi-colons, dashes, perfect tense, active and passive sentences, sentence openers, conjunctions, pronouns and possessive pronouns.
A teacher arrived from Hogwarts to teach us some magic...
We hope you enjoy reading our wand adverts and Quidditch lesson recounts!
