The Man Who Walked Between the Towers

This half term we will be reading the story of a daring tightrope walk.

In 1974, French aerialist Philippe Petit threw a tightrope between the two towers of the World Trade Center and spent an hour walking, dancing, and performing high-wire tricks a quarter mile in the sky.

We will be trying to capture the  magic of the event with a 1st person recount in role as Philippe Petit and then writing a contrasting recount as a witness watching the drama unfold.

We aren't quite ready for tightrope walking at great heights!

We sent our responses to the book to Philippe Petit via twitter and were very excited to see that he had read and liked our tweet.

We enjoyed writing contrasting recounts of the 'Walk between thw towers'.

We wrote the version of events in role as Philippe Petit and tried to create a positive atmosphere. We then wrote a recount as an eye witness- the atmosphere in this writing was very different.

Have a read of some of our excellent writing.
